Dubai’s main attractions were built in the last ten years and the majority of visitors are not to interested in exploring the history of Dubai but have come to see the amazing man made islands, the tallest skyscrapers, the fabulous hotels, dazzling shopping malls and dine in some of the finest restaurants in the world. Listed below is just some of the attractions to see when visiting Dubai.


 

Burj Khalifa

The centerpiece of downtown Dubai is the Burj Khalifa, dominating the skyline by standing at a colossal 828 metres and with over 160 stories the Burj Khalifa has now become the world’s tallest free standing structure. The Burj Khalifa is surrounded by hotels, world class shopping malls and entertainment for all the family making it the number one must see attraction in Dubai. The most amazing views of the city can be seen from the observation deck on the 124th floor, tickets will need to be purchased and it’s advised to book these in advance.

Dubai Fountain

The 30 acre Burj Khalifa lake was the perfect location for the Dubai Fountain. Every 30 minutes an enchanting magical array of light and water performs in perfect harmony to classical and world music. Water nozzles shoot 22,000 gallons of water over 50 storey’s high and with half a million lumens of projected light the fountain produces the brightest spot in the Middle East that can even be seen 20 miles away and is visible from space. The show can only be described as a technical marvel.

Dubai Aquarium

The 10 million litre Dubai Aquarium is located centrally in the Dubai Mall. With the dimensions 51m x 20m x 11m and a 48 metre long 270 degree viewing glass walkthrough tunnel this aquarium is one of the largest in the world, offering visitors the chance to see over 33,000 aquatic animals. Visitors can also relax in a glass bottom boat ride providing amazing views of the tank beneath their feet, for the more adventurous there’s cage snorkeling and shark diving, bringing you within inches of a variety of sharks and rays.

Dubai Ice Rink

Located in the Dubai Mall this Olympic sized ice rink offers public skating sessions, skating lessons, Ice Hockey, Disco sessions, Birthday Party packages and corporate function hire packages. With a huge 20m x 10m state of the art LED screen, in-house café and skate shop it's quickly becoming the coolest place to hang out and offers all year round fun for everyone.

Ski Dubai

Ski Dubai is the first indoor ski resort in the Middle East and offers real snow for its visitors, whether skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing or just playing about in the snow, both young and old can enjoy this unique venue. Ski Dubai offers various levels of runs for both beginners and seasoned professionals. Located in the Mall of Emirates this mountain themed attraction offers snow all year round and really is one place you do not want to miss.

Wild Wadi Water Park

Situated next to the Burj Al Arab hotel is the Wild Wadi outdoor water park, covering 24 acres and comprising of 24 state of the art rides including water slides, wave pools, waterfalls, artificial surfing machines and the largest water slide outside North America. Once inside the water park you have access to all the rides, lifejackets, rubber rings and body boards and with 90 life guards on duty it makes for a fabulous safe family fun day out.

SEGA Republic

Dubai's first SEGA Republic is a massive 76,000 square foot indoor theme park located in the Dubai Mall. You can play on over 150 amusement games which are located in 5 different themed zones – The Adventure Zone, Speed Zone, Cyberpop Zone, Sports Zone and Redemption Zone. The theme park also offers nine adrenaline pumping rides including a family freefall called the Sonic Hopper and a heart pounding spin coaster called Spin Gear. With everything from action packed motion-simulators to simulated sports games, classic carnival games and one of the region’s largest selections of prize-winning redemption games, SEGA Republic offers fun and excitement for everyone.

KidZania

This award winning complex allows children the chance to have the ultimate role playing experience. Set in 80,000 square feet this interactive mini-city has real streets and shops for the children to explore whilst choosing a role from over 70 professions including a pilot, racing driver, policeman, surgeon, fireman and a whole lot more.

Burj Al Arab

No visit to Dubai would be complete without standing in awe and looking up at the only seven star hotel in the world. As well as being the most luxurious hotel it’s also the tallest at a colossal 321 metres. There are many restaurants that you can use even without being a guest but it’s best to book well in advance (months). The entrance to the hotel is restricted unless you have a booking. For great photographs view the hotel at sunset and get that perfect picture.

Palm Jumeirah

When you think of Dubai this man made island springs to mind, often described as the eighth wonder of the world, this must see attraction was formed in the shape of a palm tree by land reclamation and is a massive 5km x 5km. There are world class hotels, shopping malls and villas situated on the island. As the tourism phases develops over the next few years the Palm Jumeirah is touted to be one of the world’s premier resorts.

Desert Safari

No trip to Dubai would be complete without this famous attraction. After being picked up from your hotel you will be driven into the Arabian Desert in a 4x4 where you will be given the chance to go dune bashing before driving to your campsite. Once refreshed you can go camel riding, try sand boarding and have traditional Henna paintings. In the evening there is normally a barbecue where you can indulge in Middle Eastern food and share stories with many other visitors from around the world.

Bus Tour

An open top bus tour is still the very best way to discover what a fantastic city Dubai is, travel in comfort and safety whilst taking in Dubai’s new and old landmarks. Most tours will tell the story of how Dubai came from a small fishing village to a modern state of the art city. Day tours use the hop-on, hop-off facility allowing you to visit all the places that interest you. There’s also night tours with live commentary which showcases illuminated Dubai.
